DEAR SENATOR:
Please refrain from taking campaign contributions from pro-Israel
PACs. The agenda of these PACs, many of which have misleading names
such as “Americans for Good Government” or “Georgia
Peach PAC,” is to reward candidates who put the interests
of Israel ahead of their own country’s and constituents’.
Doing so means significantly compromising U.S. security and sovereignty.
I urge you to refuse such financial contributions, along with free
trips to Israel that do not include meeting and speaking with Palestinians,
and “free” interns or staff members supplied by the
American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Please oppose
resolutions restricting U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians
and prohibiting Palestinian diplomacy or representation in the U.S.
These efforts to silence and starve Palestinians, who deserve to
live freely in a democratic state, are a form of collective punishment.
As
an elected representative, it is important that you make your decisions
on the basis of what is good for the U.S., not a foreign
country. Please use my tax dollars to help bring peace to the
Middle East, not to fight more wars on behalf of Israel.

Why is the United States silent as the government
of Israel attacks, starves and isolates Gaza and annexes swaths of
the West Bank? Is there no one in Congress or the White House who
will stand up to the pro-Israel lobby? AIPAC no longer represents
the best interests or even opinions of the majority of Israeli or
American Jews.
Most Jews, Christians, Muslims and other Americans
support peace and justice in the Middle East. We should listen
to both sides in
the conflict, not just those with the loudest lobby, and use U.S.
diplomacy and aid to encourage both sides to make peace. |
